Why Do Crypto Projects Change Their Token Names or Symbols?
Crypto projects occasionally rebrand, migrate to a new token or change their ticker symbol. Sometimes the move is connected to a merger, technical upgrade or complete change in the project’s direction. For investors, however, these changes can create confusion about whether they still hold the same asset and whether any action is required. A rebrand can also be used to distance a project from an old reputation or attract a new audience. But changing a name doesn’t automatically fix the problems that existed before. When a crypto project changes its identity, should investors see it as an opportunity or a warning sign?
