macOS 27 Golden Gate dropping Intel support completely marks the end of an era

Apple has officially announced macOS 27 Golden Gate this week and it completely cuts off all remaining Intel-based Macs. It makes sense and aligns with a vision of Apple pushing local AI architecture. At the same time, it is crazy to see that the transition to Apple Silicon is officially absolute.

Are you upgrading your Intel Mac or riding it out?

No new MacOS updates to be rolled out now for Intel Macs. Instead, Apple is only going to provide security updates. Update to M-series PCs makes sense for daily workflow nowadays, but I am still curious what Intel Mac owners are planning next?

There is a buzz in the market about Intel, AMD, or ARM laptops however, my priorities are better battery life, performance, and app compatibility. The lightweight ones are preferable to me because i have to commute for longer hours in the metro, what should I consider among these three laptops? Let me know the top pick of 2026?

Would You Buy a Googlebook Over a Chromebook?

The first wave of Google Books includes 8 devices powered by Intel, MediaTek, and Snapdragon. The idea of launching devices on multiple chipsets actually looks interesting. However, Chromebook also convenient for reading. I am curious to know, would you consider a Googlebook over a Chromebook?

Acer One 10 S1002-15XR (Request Gadgets 360 to cover a in-depth review)

Hi.
Acer One 10 S1002-15XR seems to be good option for people looking out for 2 in 1 (Tablet cum Laptop PC). I was not able to find any review of this product (except for the older Acer One 10 that was 1 GB ram model)

I would like Gadget 360 team to cover the following points apart from what you do usually cover
1) Performance as per laptop
2) Performace (including gaming) as a Windows tablet.
3) The processor here is Intel Atom coupled with 2 GB of Ram. Its performance comaprision with laptops using 3rd generation i3 proceesor (with 2/3 GB RAM)
4) Also confirm if the HDMI port of this device can be engaged/ connected to a compatible TV while charging at the same time.

Please consider the following request.

Thanks,
Sachin.

Recommend me a laptop under 1000$ that has following criteria-:

1 TB nvme SSD+hard disk slot. or nvme ssd slot with 2 TB HDD.
16 GB RAM/32 GB extendible.
15.6'' good display quality
Intel i9 processor. or any equivalent good enough processor(I don't have much ideas about this).

I use that for mainly programming in pycharm currently and might have to use android studio in future. web development and app development mainly. In the future I might even consider machine learning and artificial intelligence fields as well. My goal is to make it futureproof for at least 5 years(of course with upgrades like RAM). I have made my current laptop for 5 years as a student.

I am buying this laptop after 2 years but for buying it for cheap I am buying the same laptop that is on market currently now Haha if it is there...(middle class struggle) So I want to know about it. Thanks for the information.

Help me purchase my new lap top

Most important spec of all is "build quality, service, support". I am willing to pay for that quality!
I have nothing against large PC companies, HP, Dell, Lenovo, Sony, etc. That said, it seems very difficult to get close to what I'm looking for from these main suppliers. I live in the US but discovered in my research, small PC builders, they seem to cater to gamers, hi end business machines, but some will work with someone like me. Some were even in the UK and seemed to be well thought of and some even seemed competitive in price, even with shipping. A question is, is it silly for me to consider looking at these small builders, I might be incorrect in thinking that these smaller shops might take quality/service/support as more important, then say a multinational corp. I'm open to any and all suggestions, directions, opinions. Anybody who has weighed through this long winded request and wants to comment, hey, feel free, I'll be happy to hear any thing you all have to say.

General Specs.

1) What is your budget? Up to $1500

2) What size notebook would you prefer?

e. Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen

3) Where will you buying this notebook?
US if possible UK if necessary
4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
N/A
5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed?
Yes
6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
Watching/streaming videos, uTube, TV...Web surfing...Email...letter writing
7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?
Notebook will travel but will be plugged in most of the time, no matter where it is.
8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? If so, please state which games or types of games?
No games.
9) How many hours of battery life do you need?
Machine will rarely run on battery longer than 1 hour.
10) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?
I do not need to physically see/touch machine before buying.
11) What OS do you prefer? Windows (Windows 7 / 8), Mac OS, Linux, etc.
I'm hoping to buy PC with Win 10 installed, hopefully without bloatware/crapware, a clean install.
Screen Specifics
17.3
12) What screen resolution would you prefer?
Text should be big and east to read, very good resolution a must. Something like a 1920x1080 display would be fine.
13) Do you want a Glossy/reflective screen or a Matte/non-glossy screen?
No preference, open to suggestions.
Build Quality and Design
Build quality is most important also warranty, support (Will pay for quality)
14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
No
15) When are you buying this laptop?
Right away, if my old one dies, or end of July, when Win 10 is available, I have Win 7 now and I am eligible for the upgrade to Win 10, either as OE or when Win 10 media is available.
16) How long do you want this laptop to last?
As long as my old one, 5+ years
Notebook Components
CPU, a decent dual core or a lower end Core i3-5-7 processor core may be a better choice down the road.
GPU, any Intel IGP should do, or a lower end dedicated chip.
RAM: 12GB sounds good, open to suggestions.
Networking: A good Intel or Atheros chip will do the trick quite well. plus Blue Tooth.
Extras Card readers, fingerprint stuff, docking station. not important. Connections for USB 2 and 3, MDMI, ethernet, yes important.
Battery, What ever battery comes with this PC will be hard pressed to keep up with a 17" display, as stated above, unit will be plugged in most of the time.
Thank you for any help, direction or suggestions.

CPU Cooler: Corsair H55 57.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

Motherboard: MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

And what's the good thing? The good thing is that now you don't need anything else to complete the build and you can play games on it as soon as you build it, this contains everything and the build is very flexible too!

See the build price and buy it if you like: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/XXF7Bm

And the same build with Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($1493.79 or Rs. 95199.16 at the time of posting this): http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qPhCcf

Note: You have to buy the build from Amazon.com (Well, it ships to India) because some parts weren't available in Indian online stores so, yeah, that's it, enjoy and show off in front of your friends with such an affordable price (Well, only for some hardcore and rich gaming fans) stuck_out_tongue
