The New ZenFones From Asus

Asus is hosting its biggest ever India event in New Delhi on Thursday and while there will be several new products, the stars of the show will of course be the new ZenFones. The ZenFone Selfie in particular looks like a delight, with its dual rear and front 13-megapixel cameras. The front camera's 88-degree wide-angle lens, f/2.2 aperture, dual LED front flash, and 140-degree panoramas ensure you and your friends will never miss out on the perfect selfie.

The rear camera's just as good, with dual LED flash of its own, and f/2.0 aperture for improved low-light performance. The ZenFone Selfie comes in stylish Pure White, Chic Pink and Aqua Blue colours, making sure you stand out from the crowd. It's backed by an octa-core 64-bit CPU, 3GB RAM, and Gorilla Glass 4 for protection. All this at a price that's likely less than you think.

The Asus ZenFone 2 Laser looks modest in comparison on paper, but it's no slouch either when it comes to features and specifications. It packs in a 5-inch HD display with Gorilla Glass 4, with 2GB RAM and dual SIM 4G support. The highlight of the device is its rear camera's laser auto-focus technology, which enables near-instant focus as fast as 0.3 seconds, especially in dim light conditions. The 13-megapixel camera packs in a five-element lens and f/2.0 aperture for good low light performance.

The ZenFone 2 Laser's 70 percent screen-to-body ratio means it's comfortable to hold in hand, despite having a large display. The ZenUI comes with features like ZenMotion, SnapView, Trend Micro Security, and ZenUI Instant Updates that enhance usability, ensure security and privacy, and deliver a seamless user experience. When Asus finally reveals the price of the ZenFone 2 Laser, you will find that it's surprisingly affordable and great value at the price.

Last, but definitely not the least is the Asus ZenFone 2 Deluxe, which brings the popular ZenFone 2 in a new avatar with enhanced storage.

What will be price of the three phones - ZenFone Selfie, ZenFone 2 Laser, and ZenFone 2 Delxue? Leave a comment with your guesses and stand a chance to win a smartphone and other goodies from Asus.

The Fine Art of Mobile APp Developent

Customer engagement is the by-word now as more and more mobile phone manufacturers are training their skills towards this feature. Mobile phones have made life easy while being engaged in a train or a long journey. Mobile applications has occupied that space with its vast innovation into android app development and ios app development. Virtual reality and augmented reality are the latest observations of mobile application development by taking the user experiences into new heights in the field of visualisation.

Mobile apps are of two types: native and hybrid. User interfaces of mobile phones are implemented using either native or hybrid app mobile technology. Both offer reliable and responsive user experiences. Mobile app developers dwell to the minutest details of the idea and build the most sensible and intuitive UI's.

Honest review of Le1s after 2 months of usage

Hi Guys,

This is Rajesh and today I am sharing my views on the LeEco Le 1s that I have been using for the past month. Yes, we all know that LeEco, formerly known as Letv, launched two smartphones in the market - Le 1s and Le Max. The Le 1s is priced at Rs. 10999 and the Le Max (64GB) is priced at Rs. 32999. Le 1s is their lowest priced phone but at the same time gives features of a flagship phone. LeEco claims that they are selling Le 1s at lesser than BOM (Bill of Materials) price (which is more than Rs. 16000). Let’s move on to the review then.

BUILD & DESIGN
The first time I opened the box I was like “Wow, awesome!”, yes guys it looks great, it really looks fantastic. One of the most beautiful phones I have ever seen. The mirror-surfaced fingerprint sensor, a smart looking camera and all metal body - all these things make Le 1s a looker! It looks premium and it feels premium. The weight is a bit on the upper side but still with a 5.5-inch Full HD display and bezel-less design it is very handy and easy to use.
9/10

SCREEN & MULTIMEDIA
Le 1s comes with a 5.5-inch LCD IPS Display covered by Gorilla Glass 3. The display is great with awesome colours and contrast levels. It is sharp enough and watching Full HD videos on the display is a visual treat. Mediatek’s clear motion technology is there, so there is not even a single frame drop. It can compete with flagship phones for sure.
9/10

CAMERA
Le 1s comes with a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. Rear camera is an ISOCELL unit with PDAF and high aperture for low light capturing. Still, with all these features, this is where Le 1s suffers a bit. The daylight pictures are good with good details and natural colours but in lowlight the camera is just okay. The pictures turned out to be noisy and macro shots turned out to be “whitish” in low light. I also found some reddish tint on the photo. Front camera is good enough for video calling but for selfie lovers it will be a “hit or miss” as the camera works sometime good and sometime bad. Lots of software optimisation is needed in the camera section as the basic things like “beauty mode” is missing. I hope LeEco will release an OTA update which can rectify these issues. UPDATE: The latest OTA improved the camera experience by a huge margin – both front and rear cameras!
8.5/10

PERFORMANCE
This is where Le 1s outshines every other smartphone in the same category. Le 1s has Mediatek’s current flagship 64-bit Octa Core Processor MT6795 Turbo (aka Helio x10 Turbo) clocked at 2.2 Ghz. Almost every other smartphone in this price range uses cheaper processors while LeEco uses this flagship processor. We can find this processor even in the flagship phone of HTC M9 (Which costs almost 45 K). Le 1s also has 3GB RAM with the system using almost 1.5 GB RAM but still the phone performs very well. No lag at all. Almost every high end game plays butter smooth. I have tested Asphalt 8 and Temple Run, both run fluidly. As far as the performance is concerned, it is really a beast. It warms a little bit, but that is common for all metal smartphones, so not a deal breaker for me.
9.5/10

CONNECTIVITY
Le 1s supports 2G/3G/4G networks in India. Everything is working fine. I didn’t experience any network issue so far. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are up to the mark. Le 1s supports dual SIM - one micro and one nano. Both are working perfectly fine. A small negative side is that it doesn’t support VoLTE, so for Reliance Jio users it is a deal breaker. Still it satisfied me. Thumbs up!
8.5/10

MEMORY
Le 1s comes with 32 GB of internal memory which is really good considering the price. It doesn’t support SD cards but it supports OTG. I was able to connect a 64 GB pen drive through USB Type C OTG cable and it was really fast and I had a nice experience. Overall at this price range it is really good.
8/10

SOUND QUALITY
The external speakers perform well and after plugging in earphones, it sounds really great. It is superior to the competition in this price range. Soothing to the ears and a good option for audiophiles.
8.5/10

PROS:
Stunning design
Premium Feel
Great Display
Good Speakers & Sound Quality

CONS:
Okay Camera
No VoLTE
No External SD card support
Considering the price point of 10999, LeEco provides a super “value for money” product which can break all records in the Indian mobile market. As their tag suggests a #SuperPhone at a #SuperPrice
Overall Rating: 8.5/10
Verdict: Paisa Wasool..!

My LeEco Le 1s Fingerprint Sensor - The Best Security Feature

Being a part-time online trader and a full time business man on the move, I have always been worried about losing my phone or my information falling into the wrong hands. Not only do I have to keep my information secure, but I also need access to my online trading accounts at a moment’s notice.

While I have been pretty happy with the conventional security that a 4-digit pin code offers (some phones use lock patterns), there have been times where I lost a good opportunity to make a killing on the commodities market because I was unable to access my accounts fast enough due to the security lock and pin code. I recently read that a person unlocks his devices 110 times a day, I probably unlock my phone at least twice than the average.

Recently, I saw a Le 1s advertisement on Flipkart and I learnt that it had fingerprint scanning technology and I saw this as an answer to my prayers. From the little I understand and some quick google reference, I found out that fingerprint identification technology in phones had the answers to all my security concerns. Since no two finger prints are same, the automated authentication biometric of Le 1s allows just its rightful owner to access the phone. Since identification is based on the fingerprint scanner, it also removes the need to remember a password there by providing an accurate and reliable way to unlock the phone.

One interesting feature of Le 1s is that the sensor comes with a 6H hardness anti-scratch mirror that allows the finger print to be read without any issues.

As I tried to unlock my phone, I found the sensor enables both flash recognition and identification accuracy immediately and effectively as promised and it eliminates the need for PIN codes or patterns to be memorised.

Now with quick access to my online trading and banking accounts, I can truly say that I have all information at my fingertips.

LeEco leaps to Top 2 brand with most market attention

(New Delhi/ Bangalore, 27 April) LeEco, the multinational internet ecosystem conglomerate successfully makes it to Top 2 brands with most market attention in India in April, after entering into India for less than four months. It has garnered market attention of 25%, closely following Apple (35%)and far ahead of Samsung (11%), according to the latest report by a leading Research and Measurement agency in India.

The figures from the report show that LeEco secured greater percentage of market attention of 25%, and the ranking has remarkable risen to Top 2, right behind Apple now, from the 4th position back in January. It has well surpassed Samsung and other competitors within no more than four months since its first entrance to the market.

LeEco has grabbed heavy attention and disrupted the Indian smartphone industry with the launch of Le 1s and Le Max, making foray into the Indian market in January this year. It has sold 2 lakhs Superphones within 30 days, receiving overwhelming responses from the public and in the first flash sale, 70,000 units of the flagship killer Le 1s were gone within 2 seconds, breaking three industry records and making it the No.1 best- selling smartphones online in India.

More than that, LeEco has a long-term and highly-anticipated plan for India and is committed to bringing the complete vertically-integrated Ecosystem to India. In order to take the user experience to a new height, LeEco has already signed deals with ErosNow for Video-on-demand (VOD) and with YuppTV for TV content streaming. To facilitate the seamless streaming of high-quality content, LeEco plans to invest 10 million USD to set up in-house Content Delivery Networks (CDN) across 10 cities in India by the end of this year. Besides, it has recently applied for the Foreign Investment Promotion Board’s (FIPB) approval to undertake the single brand retail trading of "Le" branded electronic products both through offline stores and e-commerce platform.

Globally, the disruptive Ecosystem business model has proved to be huge success and continued to transform people’s internet lifestyle with best-in-line ecosystem products and services powered by breakthrough technology and comprehensive ecosystem and disruptive pricing. Meanwhile, LeEco announced the pioneering and jaw-dropping “Free Hardware Day” in 14 April and lead the global industry to a brand new era where users should only pay for high-quality services and content, rather than the premium of hardware and the brand. The powerful and highly connected Ecosystem that LeEco boasts has shown enormous potential and attracted partnerships with various world-renowned companies, including establishing the joint-venture with Aston Martin to develop electric vehicles,
and inking strategic cooperation with Faraday Future.

A week ago on 20 April, LeEco unveiled impressive and long-awaited new range of products in Beijing, being the first internet ecosystem company in the world to release products belonging to distinct industries-electric vehicle, smartphone, TV, and VR. It has wowed the world, showcasing LeSEE’s first self-driving concept car and launching the ground-breaking second generation Superphones-Le 2, Le Max2 and Le 2Pro, the 4th generation Super TVs, LeVR device and the latest eUI 5.8 OS.

As the world’s first phone to come with USB Type-C audio port supported by CDLA (Continual Digital Lossless Audio) technology, the new Superphones have received a historic-high 23 million registrations, and achieved sales of 1.22 billion RMB (188 million USD), with a whopping 1 million units sold out in two hours after its first official sale kicks off across all platforms at 10am, 26 April, 2016. LeEco has broken two industry records as the fastest sales with the largest amount in China, and created a new record on JD. com with the biggest sales amount in a single day. Within 24 hours, the total sales of Superphones mount to 1.61 million units, breaking the sales of more than 1.9 billion RMB (293 million USD), which is unprecedented in the industry.

Understanding smartphone cameras…

People on social media are constantly looking to click better pictures to upload to their growing online-photo collections. Buying an expensive smart phone may not be enough to up your game in photography, but a little research on camera specifications and nomenclature will go a long way in helping you select that perfect smart phone for your next photographic expedition.

Camera Glossary

Sensor: A sensor captures light and converts what you see into an image. It determines image size, resolution, low-light performance, depth-of-field, dynamic range and basically how good your photos look.

The quality of the image depends on the size of sensor, the number of pixels on it and the
size of those pixels. For example: Samsung’s ISOCELL image sensor technology
promises increased light sensitivity and higher colour fidelity in smartphones
even in poor lighting conditions.

Aperture: The aperture (sometimes called focal ratio) of a camera is the ratio of the lens' focal length to the diameter of the entrance pupil. It is a measure of lens speed, and provides the thrust to
produce photos with better sharpness and clarity. The higher the focal ratio
and the smaller the opening in the lens, the greater the depth of field and
sharper the background of the photograph.

PDAF: Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) is currently the fastest method of focusing. It uses two sensor points to detect the phase difference in the light path and find the exact distance. It moves
the lens to the correct focus point so that the camera produces high quality
images. A few smartphones also use VCM ball bearing and closed loop technology
in PDAF, which lets the user click a picture in less than 0.09th of
a second.

Megapixel:
This is a unit for measuring image resolution. The more the pixels in a picture,
the more detailed the picture becomes. To put it simply, a single megapixel
amounts to one million pixels in an image and is an indication of the camera's
image quality or resolution. So photographs taken by a camera with higher
megapixels will result in higher resolution images.

Resolution: This refers to the number of pixels
in a camera sensor. A higher resolution means more pixels and more pixels
provide the ability to display more visual information (resulting in greater
clarity and more detail).

Autofocus: The Auto-Focus feature provides a camera with the ability to automatically focus on a subject correctly without the need of manual intervention from the user. This feature allows improved zoom shots and closer macro shots.

So don’t be camera shy, go ahead and research these terms so you have the right smart phone
to click that award winning photo!

Le 1s Eco leads the way in the content game

LeEco is changing the smartphone landscape with their breakthrough technology and disruptive pricing. The company seems to be now ushering in a bold new era in an industry that is sorely lacking innovation!

With their new ‘Made for India’ smartphone – the Le 1s Eco whose launch event I attended – LeEco is not only taking competitors head on in the smartphone industry, but seems to be in the process of transforming the way users experience entertainment with their LeEco Membership Program.

LeEco Membership comprises 4 entertainment services – Video on Demand through the Levidi app, Live Channels on LIVE built‐in app, Music powered by Hungama Music and Live Concerts via LeMusic initiative – and is available for a price of Rs. 490 per month or an annual subscription of Rs. 4900.

Levidi is LeEco’s own video aggregator application that offers a choice of more than 2000 blockbuster films from the ErosNow stable in 10 languages – English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil,
Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

With LIVE, users get access to more than 100 television channels through a partnership with YuppTV. With the likes of Sony, Colors, Aaj Tak, Times Now, 9XM, Nickelodeon and more available, whatever your daily television fix is, LIVE delivers it.

The tie‐up with Hungama Music gives subscribers access to a catalogue of more than 3.5 million songs. What’s more, the music experience is completely ad‐free and streams high‐definition music at 320 kbps in 25 Indian and 6 international languages.

Members will also be able to watch more than 50 international rock, jazz, pop and classical live concerts, real‐time, from the comfort of their phones.

Besides VIP access to all Supertainment services, LeEco is also offering an unprecedented 5TB of LeEco Drive cloud storage along with Rs. 3,000 worth of coupons for their accessories.

In comparison, Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 3, the only other phone in the Indian market to offer a well‐advertised content bundle, was announced with a two‐month subscription to the Hungama film and music library. The LeEco Membership Program offers a one‐year subscription straight off the bat.

On the device front, the Le 1s Eco comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM and is priced at Rs. 9,999 for the company’s first sale on Flipkart on May 12. A version of the Redmi Note 3 is available in the market at the same price, but comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. Meanwhile, the top spec version of
the Redmi Note 3 will burn a Rs. 11,999‐sized hole in your pocket – a Rs. 2,000‐sized larger hole than the Le 1s Eco!

I did a bit of research on the internet and made a more detailed comparison chart of the LeEco Le 1s Eco against its competition in the market.

So what do you think of these Supertainment services and the Le 1s Eco smartphone that LeEco is providing? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Customer's Inconvenience: Grievance Or Stupidity?

"Customer is the king. Customer is always right. Customer is important. Every customer counts." Blah. Blah. Blah. are what we always hear from everyone!

There is no organization that does not value their customers as they are the ones driving the entire business. It's a fact that every customer is important and many customers genuinely express their inconvenience. On the contrary, there is a whole new category of customers who choose to pick up the sword of social media platforms to ambush the budding startups.

Having a few years of experience working with startups, my personal experience compels me to write this blog in support of such firms who get to deal with a lot of crap like that. It is sad to have witnessed that a customer is called a king for a purpose which is surely not being fulfilled in today's date.

None of the customers possess the traits that a judicious king would possess in order to rule over his kingdom. Now days, despite having the choice of plethora of kingdoms, a customer opts to beat around the bush and only criticize.

This is just one example that I am quoting and you might wanna trust me that there are many like this one. While selling your items online, one is literally selling unwanted items and looks for some value in order to upgrade to a better technology.

Now you need to understand that one has to be honest enough to provide the exact details of their items in order to get a better price. I have witnessed the sheer stupidity of customers who do not understand the importance of a display in a smartphone. For a startup, getting the dead pixels or a broken screen fixed can cost a lot whereas a customer may treat that as "just a scratch".

In such a scenario, the customer is making a fool of himself and the poor startup who still tries to negotiate and requote the price to the customer and still offers a price in four digits only gets belted "shamelessly" on each and every social media platform.

It is not a good sight to have on any given day when an employee (also a customer within) logs on to his or her panel to see such stupidity. What may seem as a grievance to the entire world may actually result in being just a sheer stupidity.

"Cos what you see may not be the entire truth but only your perception".

P.S. - Be a responsible customer. Always read the terms & conditions before you write a negative review for a firm, whether established or a startup. Last but not the least, get away with the "chalta-hai attitude."

"Views are my own" - Issued in public interest - "Fun-hith mein jaari"
