Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: A True AI Phone?

Samsung wants the Galaxy S26 Ultra to feel like a phone that's one step ahead. Features like Now Nudge, a smarter search, and a more conversational Bixby are all pushing in that direction. Your phone suggests a photo before you go looking, reminds you about plans without you having to dig around, and handles multi-step tasks with a single command.
It sounds genuinely useful on paper. But there's a fair question underneath all of it: does this kind of AI actually save time in day-to-day life, or does it start feeling like the phone knows too much after the novelty wears off?

For users in India especially, where phone habits are pretty personal and varied, that line between helpful and intrusive can shift quickly. Would love to know how people actually feel about AI shaping the way they use their phones daily.

Oppo's R5 is a seriously gorgeous phone. Clad in metal, it's super-thin -- just 4.85mm (0.19 inches) deep, and it weighs a scant 155 grams (5.5 ounces). It's certainly impressive, but this comes at the loss of the 3.5mm audio jack, so you'll have to use Bluetooth headphones if you want to listen to music.

For Android fans envious of the iPhone 6 's slim frame, well, look no further. The R5's ultra-slim body beats the iPhone handily, and will draw envious stares from other Android owners as well.

But slimness isn't all that great without the performance to back it up, and this is where the phone falters. It's oftentimes sluggish, and the camera takes forever to start up. The phone's thin frame also doesn't help with the heat and it can get uncomfortably hot at times.

Oppo hasn't yet revealed exact dates for the phone's availability, but the Chinese company intends to sell it globally, either through its online store or working in partnership with local distributors. What I do know is that there will be three versions due to the different LTE bands -- one for the US, one for China and one for the rest of the world.

Price wise, the R5 will be sold at $449, which converts to roughly £310. It will also come unlocked, so you'll be able to use the phone on 3G mostly everywhere.

Design

The R5 is encased in metal -- with a hand-polished steel frame and, on the back, brushed aluminum. This gives the phone a premium feel that you'd expect from a more expensive device.

The two-tone color scheme (either white and silver or white and gold) at the back does draw comparisons to Apple's iPhone designs, but the shape of the phone is much more angular. Despite being thinner, it doesn't feel as slippery as the iPhone.

One downside to the thin frame of the phone is that the rear 13-megapixel sticks out, much like Apple's iPhone. However, unlike the small bump of the iPhone 6, the R5's rear camera pops out a fair way, enough that it makes the phone uneven when placed on a flat surface.

The R5 sports a 5.2-inch AMOLED display, with a full HD resolution of 1,920x1,080 pixels. The screen is bright and sharp, while colors were vibrant. I do have issues with the auto-brightness settings of the phone -- it can sometimes be too dim.

Like most Chinese-made smartphones, the R5 sports physical home, menu and back keys. I'm not a fan of physical keys since I feel software keys are better to interact with -- you can (depending on the OS) switch the back button to either the left or right position.

The volume and power keys are on the right side, with the micro-USB port at the bottom. As mentioned earlier, there's no 3.5mm audio jack.

Hardware

Oppo's R5 is powered by an octa-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, and in theory, should have enough juice to power the phone. But my experience with the device was less than satisfactory: at times the phone would pause between switching apps, for example. I reckon a software update could fix this, and I will update the review if it does.

The phone packs 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage and a 2,000mAh battery. There's no microSD card slot to expand that storage, which limits the number of apps you can install and the number of tunes and movies you can keep onboard.

Software and features

The phone is powered by Android 4.4 KitKat -- not the latest 5.0 Lollipop -- with Oppo's custom ColorOS UI on top. The software is very much improved from the company's first version, How to move apps from an old iPhone to a new iPhone though it looks similar. For one, it's much flatter.

Low on budget, high on features. LeEco's flagship Le 1s is breaking industry records

Hello folks, this is Rakesh and this is my review of LeEco's Le 1s.
Over the past few months, I noticed a flurry of LeEco phone advertisements in all leading newspapers and journals regularly. This made me curious and my excitement grew manifold because of the sublime looks of the phone and reasonable price at which it is offered. So, I spoke to a friend who bought one and examined the phone in order to have a better perspective for myself.

With the Le 1s, LeEco offers a smartphone with specs that one can only expect from a high-range smartphone. The phone offers some cool features that come handy in performing many tasks. To name a few, the 5.5-inch FHD touch screen display with 403 PPI, adds to the viewing experience of watching videos and playing games.

The device is powered by a 2.2 GHz Octa-Core Mediatek Helio X10 Processor, on which Android 5.0 (Lollipop) operating system runs smoothly. It is ably supported by 3 GB RAM which ensures that users get a seamless performance while multitasking.
This smartphone is stacked with an impressive 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front facing camera which ensures that you click the best photographs (including selfies) and allows video calling even in low light conditions.
For its price, the Le 1s is extremely well-designed and it’s metal body gives it a premium look. The full-metal aircraft grade aluminium unibody not only makes the phone look modern and sleek but it is also very light and does a great job of protecting your phone if you drop it.

VERDICT:
The Le 1s stands out from the crowd in its own unique way. With a new interface, cool features and a simple setup process, it is an excellent budget phone with a fantastic design and performance for the price.

My LeEco Le 1s Fingerprint Sensor - The Best Security Feature

Being a part-time online trader and a full time business man on the move, I have always been worried about losing my phone or my information falling into the wrong hands. Not only do I have to keep my information secure, but I also need access to my online trading accounts at a moment’s notice.

Since identification is based on the fingerprint scanner, it also removes the need to remember a password there by providing an accurate and reliable way to unlock the phone.

One interesting feature of Le 1s is that the sensor comes with a 6H hardness anti-scratch mirror that allows the finger print to be read without any issues.

As I tried to unlock my phone, I found the sensor enables both flash recognition and identification accuracy immediately and effectively as promised and it eliminates the need for PIN codes or patterns to be memorised.

Now with quick access to my online trading and banking accounts, I can truly say that I have all information at my fingertips.

24-Year-Old Quit His Job to Travel the World and Hunt Pokémon
"I wanted to have an adventure," 24-year-old Tom Currie told The Guardian of his recent decision to quit work and become the (self-proclaimed) world's first full-time Pokémon hunter. "I have been working for six years and I was desperate for a break. And Pokémon gave me the chance to live that dream."

It's unclear what he was doing before he committed to the game completely (Cosmopolitan.com has reached out to him for comment), but in one week, Currie has visited six New Zealand towns and caught 90 Pokémon. He plans to travel for two full months and has 20 bus trips planned around the country. He told the Guardian has is sleeping deeply each night because of the "miles and miles" he walks each day to hunt and has been staying on friends' couches and in hostels.

Net Neutrality in India

A new consultation paper by Trai suggests that all apps and websites should be regulated to be accessed in India. You can read the full paper as a PDF on Trai's site but it is over 100 pages of roundabout language that seems designed to be hard to read. Don't get put off though, because this could really affect you. Reading the paper, you get the sense that Trai wants apps like Skype, Whatsapp and Viber to cost you more to use, despite saying that net neutrality is important.

In fact, Trai's draft also goes beyond teleco issues, and talks about healthcare, cultural sensitivity and cyber-bullying. There are different government departments that already look at these different issues, so should Trai be getting involved?

These regulations could lay the groundwork for higher prices to access your favourite websites. The apps that you want to use might not be available at all if licensing becomes required. And it could become harder than ever for Indians to start online businesses, as more and more layers of bureaucracy get added.

The New Xolo Hive!

Xolo, on the other hand has started promoting its unannounced Hive UI with a dedicated page that come with taglines such as "And right now there's something different brewing at Xolo. Stay curious," "Soon you will too. The revolution has begun," and "A revolution is in the works. Stay tuned."

Other quotes from the Hive teaser page, read, "Imagine if you had the power to change your phone the way you want to. Like play dough. The music player is yours. The contact book is yours. The themes are yours. Imagine what it would be like to create things based on your ideas. Wouldn't that be wonderful?... So the next probable question itself is what exactly is Hive? We would say, imagine a forge. You are the knights who would want blades made of Valerian steel. We the forgers make that possible because the steel we create is malleable to your likes and dislikes. Hive is that forge. It's a platform where we follow democracy in creation... The Hive pits the thinkers and the doers together under one huge umbrella so that the result is beneficial for both."

All this seems to indicate a UI that is very customisable, and that partially ties-in with the fact that Xolo is also said to be working with a designer community to create themes for its new UI and might also announce a new store for its smartphone consumers where all the exclusive content will be available for download.

Earlier on Monday, Xolo's first Windows Phone 8.1-based smartphone, the Win Q900s went up for pre-order at Rs. 9,999.

Last week, the company launched a new Android 4.4 KitKat-based smartphone in India, the Q1011 at Rs. 9,999.
