Is the new Garmin overkill for casual running?

I run a few times a week and mostly want GPS and decent battery. The newer Garmin has way more features than I probably need

Yeah probably I’d save the money. Buy an Apple Watch if you have iPhone, go for Galaxy Watch if Samsung’s your thing!
