Is it better to keep an air purifier running all day at a low speed or switch it on only when needed?

I recently started using an air purifier and want to understand the best way to operate it. Does continuous use make a noticeable difference?

I prefer keeping it on auto mode. It adjusts according to air quality, and I don't have to keep checking it manually.
