Has anyone switched from a premium TV brand to a budget brand and been equally satisfied?

I am considering a TV from a relatively affordable brand instead of spending extra on Sony or Samsung. I am curious whether people who made this switch noticed a major difference in everyday viewing.

A lot depends on the exact panel and processing. Some budget models offer excellent value, but I would not compromise too much on after-sales service.
