Are open-back headphones a bad idea if you work in a shared room?

I have been looking at open-back headphones because people say they offer a wider soundstage. But I usually listen to music while other people are around.

They do leak sound, sometimes quite a lot. I would stick to closed-back headphones if you need privacy or work around others.
