I think a free, ad-supported option could be a good way for Xbox to attract casual gamers and people who do not want to pay for Game Pass. I will not mind watching a few ads if I could try games for free, but the one-hour session limit might feel restrictive for longer games. It could work well as a way to test a game before deciding whether to pay for it.
