Meta facing lawsuit over AI training data feels like a bigger industry issue
Meta vs publisher lawsuit is interesting. While the publishers are taking a copyright protection stance, Meta is arguing that training AI models on copyrighted materials is part of “fair use.” Is anyone concerned that ownership of intellectual property can become messy if this goes in Meta’s favour?
I really don’t think Meta will win this. Zuck can say whatever he wants, but EU’s GDPR has already set precedence for copyright protection in AI training and I’m sure US courts will follow suit
