I sit fairly close to my TV, so does going for a bigger screen always make sense?

I was thinking about upgrading my TV but the room does not have a huge viewing distance. Wondering if bigger is actually better in this case.

Not always. Screen size should match your viewing distance. A very large TV viewed from too close can feel uncomfortable, while a properly sized screen gives a better experience.
