I have been looking at 1.5-ton ACs, but spending close to Rs.50,000 seems a bit much for my room.

The AC will mainly be used during the hotter months, so I want good cooling and reasonable electricity use without paying for unnecessary extras

There are good 1.5-ton inverter ACs from LG, Daikin, Panasonic and Blue Star below or around Rs.50,000 providing good durability and function.
