I have been keeping around Rs. 8,000 for headphones and Sony models are making me consider stretching the budget

I mainly want them for music, work and travelling. Trying to decide if spending extra now will actually make a difference later.

I would stretch it only if you are going to use them regularly. Otherwise a decent mid range pair is usually enough.
