I am replacing an old fridge for a small family. What capacity usually keeps the cost reasonable?

There are so many capacity options that I am not sure where the practical middle ground is. I do not want to pay extra for space that will rarely be used.

For a small family, around 200-300 litres is generally practical. The right size depends on how much fresh and frozen food you normally store.
