Does a tablet actually replace notebooks for studying or do you end up going back to paper?

I’m considering one mainly for PDFs, highlighting and handwritten notes. Not sure if it will genuinely simplify studying or just become another screen.

I use both tbh. PDFs and notes are easier on the tablet but I still prefer paper for some subjects
