Does an AC struggle more because of the room or because of the afternoon sun?

My bedroom is reasonably small but gets direct sunlight for several hours. I’m wondering if room size alone is enough when choosing AC capacity.

In my case definitely the afternoon sun. Room isn’t that big but it gets crazy hot after 2-3 pm.
